Vision, Mission & Core Values

Our Vision

To be a beacon of excellence, providing high quality education which enables children and young people with medical and mental health needs to achieve their potential and experience success.

Our Mission

To harness the skills of staff and partners to empower each pupil to build the character, hone the skills, develop the cultural capital and attain the qualifications needed for them to thrive into adulthood. We make this possible through our culture of warmth, motivation, curiosity and challenge.

Our Core Value

Drive our pursuit of educational and personal excellence but also harness the nurturing support our pupils may need along the way:

Our Sullivan 3 ‘s’ –

We all believe that:

  • Every pupil should have the best possible start in life through a high-quality education, supporting them to achieve their full potential.
  • All pupils should have the same opportunities as their peer group.
  • Pupils should receive the same range and quality of education as they would have experienced at their home school.
  • Pupils unable to attend school because of health needs should be able to access suitable and flexible education appropriate to their needs.
  • The use of electronic media such as virtual classrooms and learning platforms can provide access to a broader curriculum.
  • Good communication with Sullivan staff and with a pupil’s home school will maintain good links and collaboration to ensure the right educational and therapeutic package is in place. It will also play a key role in the reintegration back into school successfully.
  • Information sharing between all stakeholders in vital at every stage of the process, with emphasis on a thorough admissions process.
  • Parents have a voice in their child’s education.
  • Children have a voice in their educational support.

Our Educational Pathway model is designed to provide a tailored educational experience that aligns with each pupil’s medical needs throughout their recovery journey. Beginning with support during hospital admissions or inpatient stays, we ensure that educational provision is responsive and adaptable to the unique challenges faced by each pupil. As they progress towards physical and mental wellness, our model facilitates seamless transitions to mainstream or alternative education settings, recognising that this journey is often unpredictable and varies significantly from one child to another. By prioritising individualised support and flexibility, we aim to empower pupils to achieve their educational goals while addressing their health requirements holistically.
