Subject – PE

Physical Education holds a vital place in education and in society as well as being one of the great civilising subjects in the curriculum. Our aim is to develop the confidence and competence of each child in the PE curriculum. Our Physical Education programmes enable all children to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. It ensures opportunities to develop fundamental movement skills for pupils to become physically literate which supports their health, fitness and athletic development

At The Sullivan Centre, we use our highly skilled P.E Teacher, who has carefully worked to create a Curriculum Overview Document where objectives for each cohort group are carefully written. All the pupils are introduced to a range of sports, new and familiar, each with linked skills and knowledge mapped out throughout the key stages.

We aim to ensure that pupils;

  • develop competency in a broad range of physical activities.
  • are physically active for sustained periods of time in a way which supports health and fitness.
  • develop an understanding of how physical activity can have a positive effect on their physical and mental wellbeing.
  • have the confidence and resilience to make mistakes and learn from them in order to progress in each area of physical education. Pupils will follow a range of activities, with the main aim being on basic skill development but with the expectation that some will achieve a much higher level of attainment.

P.E is delivered by Mr Taylor, to all KS3 groups and KS4. Classes are also supported by their usual class staff. P.E is delivered on site, in the church hall nearby and Costello Sports Stadium.
